The son of Charles and Ina Bell (Hight) Carlson was born Dec. 16, 1918 , at Spencer. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1937 and attended the University of Nebraska for a year. He then began working for Fegles-Power Service Construction Co. on the Spencer dam in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-45 in the European Theater. He married Geraldine Mott on June 4, 1941, at Spencer. He continued to work for Fegles-Power Service Construction Co. for 45 years. He worked on 53 jobs throughout his career, including the construction of a power house and dam at Moline, Ill. He was a project manager for the company and retired in 1984." He was survived by his wife, 1 son and his wife, 1 daughter and her husband, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "He was preceded in death by six siblings."
