He was born Dec. 17, 1919 in Montevallo, Mo., the son of Arthur Roy and Lula Mae Hughs Wade. His family moved to Humboldt just after his birth where he remained a lifelong resident. Read More	SGT US ARMY World War II Chanute Tribune, The (KS) - Wednesday, December 26, 2001 HUMBOLDT - Edward Ross Wade, 82, of Humboldt died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 17, 1919 in Montevallo, Mo., the son of Arthur Roy and Lula Mae Hughs Wade. His family moved to Humboldt just after his birth where he remained a lifelong resident. On Jan. 14, 1942 he married Marjalee Mae Brooks; they later divorced. He married Anna Martin on Feb. 12, 1972; they later divorced. On June 8, 1997 he married Evelyn Dillow Henricks. She survives of the home. He enlisted in the army in 1942 and served during World War II with the 635th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He served more than 600 combat days as a tank driver and achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant. He worked for Sinclair Pipeline and Humboldt Brick and Tile after being discharged from the Army. He joined the Humboldt Police Department in 1957. In 1966 he was elected Allen County sheriff. He worked more than 20 years in law enforcement and retired in 1979. After retiring he ran a local towing service and worked as a machinist at Chanute Manufacturing. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1225 Iola, Kansas Police Officers Association, and attended Parkview Holiness Church in Chanute. In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Edward Lee Wade of Jefferson City, Mo., Dennis Ross Wade of Chanute, and Randall Eugene Wade of Grants Pass, Oregon; one daughter, Sheryl Annette Wilson, Chanute; one brother, Johnny Wade, Clinton, Arkansas; two sisters, Mary Kellogg of Winter Haven, Fla. and Anne Booe, Humboldt; and 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harry Wade; and three sisters, Grace, Elsie and Lena. Inurnment will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt.
