Major, an old and highly respected citizen of this county died suddenly at his home in Rock Mills Township at Sunday afternoon. His remain were interred at Roberts Church on Monday. Mr. Major was about 70 years old and was born and reared in this county and for the past thirty-five years resided on the plantation where he died. For several months he had been afflicted with dropsy, and had also been threatened with paralysis. On Sunday afternoon, while sitting in his chair in his room, he suddenly expired. Mr. Major was an upright, honorable citizen and was well known throughout the county. He was a man of strong will and determination, and was never backward in expressing his views on any subject.
