Read More	Kenneth Leroy Taylor was born to Earle and Beulah (Horton) Taylor on March 2, 1924, at Exeter Nebraska and died February 5, 2009 at Friend, Nebraska. He was the oldest of three children. He and the family lived for a time at Waco, Nebraska, on the farm with grandparents Oca and Daisy Horton and then in Exeter. Both of his parents died before he was 10 and he went to live with his maternal grandmother, Daisy Horton Keil. He attended District 78 in Fillmore County and high school in Exeter and graduated with the class of 1941. During high school he played football and baseball. In the fall of 1941 he enrolled in the University of Nebraska and attended for one year. During his freshman year in high school he met the love of his life, Ruth Baller. They dated throughout high school and were married January 17, 1944. At this time Kenneth entered Army, took basic training at camp Blanding in Florida and was sent to the European theater. He achieved the rank of Sgt. and was discharged in 1945. After being in the service they lived in Exeter where he worked as a postal clerk and then carried rural mail for 35 years. They raised four children; Jim, Janet, Joyce and Jerry all of him graduated Exeter high school. Was an avid sports fan loved baseball. In 1956, he, with the help of Frank Tauriella and the encouragement of Vera Underwood Rauscher, started a Little League. They helped organize the SFS Little League (Seward – Fillmore – Saline County). He coached the "Exeter Atoms" for several years and then moved up to Legion ball. He was proud of his ball club and their accomplishments and had many successful seasons to prove it. Kenneth and Ruth encouraged and influenced the kids participation in music and band. He quite often sang along with them when seen gospel music and was especially pleased when they won the Lions Club talent contest. Back in the 60s they often times were seen taking tickets at "The Ravens" dances- a rock 'n roll band that Jim and Jerry played with. After the kids were grown and gone Kenneth and Ruth started traveling. They'd spend their winters in Texas and Arizona searching for a place they could retire. They eventually settled on Mesa Arizona in 1979 and built a new home. There they lived until 2003 when they moved to York, Nebraska. Kenneth and Ruth love to dance. In their younger days they attended dances in Burress and later on, they were regulars the flying V. In 1988 Kenneth underwent coronary artery bypass surgery and suffered a hypoxic event which rendered him disabled. Stood by his side as his loving companion in care grabber for almost 21 years. He was a member of the Exeter Methodist Church and American Legion Post 218 Exeter. In 2007 posts 218 gave him an award in recognition for successfully coaching Legion ball in Exeter. Kenneth leaves to mourn his passing their four children, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, his sister, sister-in-law's, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, his parents and his younger brother Robert.
