Read More	Ruth Lucille (Baller) Taylor was born February 28, 1924 to Erma (Preston) and Albert Baller, in Blue Vale, Nebraska on the Blue River in Southeast York County and died December 27, 2008, at Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend. She was the second of three children. She attended rural school District 7 through eighth grade and graduated Exeter high school with the class of 1941. She took normal training classes in high school to become a rural school teacher and was hired by District 58 and taught for 2 1/2 years before she married. She later taught at District 47 in Saline County and District 33 in Fillmore County. During her freshman year at Exeter high school she met the love of her life, Kenneth. They dated throughout high school and married January 17, 1944. They lived for a time in Florida until Kenneth was shipped overseas. To this union four children were born: Jim, Janet, Joyce and Jerry. They lived in Exeter and all four graduated Exeter high school. She joined the Exeter Methodist Church in 1952 and was a member of the American Legion auxiliary for 44 years. While raising their children Ruth was busy going to school activities and was a 4-H leader and vital school teacher. She enjoyed sewing and often times made look-alike outfits for all four children. She was a strong supporter of the boys baseball teams of which Kenneth was coach. Kenneth and her love to dance. In their younger days they attended dances at Burress and later on were seen as regulars at the flying V. Ruth and Kenneth both encouraged the kids to participate in band and music activities. They often times sang for church and other social activities as a quartet. She was pleased when they won a Lions Club talent contest singing gospel music. Ruth and Kenneth both could be seen taking tickets at "The Ravens" dances- a rock and roll band the Jim and Jerry belonged to. After the kids were grown Ruth and Kenneth started traveling. They often times would spend their winters in Texas and Arizona and were searching for a place they could retire. They eventually settled on Mesa, Arizona in 1979 and built a new home. They lived there until 2003 when they moved to York, Nebraska. In 1988, Kenneth had bypass surgery and became disabled. Ruth took care of him steadily and faithfully and was his constant companion for the last 20 years! She did this willingly and cheerfully and always looked on the bright side of their situation. Her positive attitude and goodwill endeared her to everyone she knew. She had a good sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke or pun. She enjoyed it talking about her "days on the Blue River"… Her days living in Blue Vale during the depression; fun times with her brother Rex and sister Vera… The people and family members that would come and go, with live with them for a time. Her high school days where the best, though. She said recently that she couldn't understand why kids didn't like school. "Those were the most fun days ever"!
