He was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Paul was born on June 24, 1921 to the late Joseph M. & Bertha L. (Receveur). He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen T. (Engle); and son, Stephen; brothers, Anthony, Ambrose & Carl Andres; and sisters, Irma Bodenstadt, Martha and Alma Striegel, and Gladys Koetter. He is survived by sons, Ron (Cindy), John (Janis), Mike (Denice), David (Jan), and Chuck (Sarah); daughters, Rosie Donner (Allen), Kathy Martin (Jim) and Donna Swartz (Vic); grandchildren, Stephanie Andres Rogers (Matt); Leslie Andres Mills; Matthew Andres (Carrie Beth); Amy Donner Lorenz (Chris); Darcy Donner Williams (Sterling); Jessica Donner; Andrea Martin Cooley (Gary); Emily Martin (David Adkins); Stephanie Kirk Colin (Shawn); Erika Kirk McBride (Woody); Kyle Andres (Ruth); Daniel, Lindsey & Kelly Andres; Anthony, Peter & Will Andres; Zachary & Jacob Swartz; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be noon - 8 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 9 a.m. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Chapel (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs, IN) with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Providence Jr. Sr. High School or St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. "Paulie" Andres, 91, Floyds Knobs, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, Floyds Knobs, with burial and military honors in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He served proudly in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Hoosier Panel after 36 years of employment. A lifelong member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, he was formerly active in the Floyds Knobs Community Club and the Providence High School Booster Club. He loved working in the fields, taking pictures of family and friends, sharing stories and was hard to beat at Euchre. Above all, he found contentment in his deep, lifelong devotion to family and faith. He was born on June 24, 1921 to the late Joseph M. & Bertha L. (Receveur). He is survived by sons, Ron & wife, Cindy, John (Janis), Mike & wife, Denice, David & wife, Jan, and Chuck & wife, Sarah; daughters, Rosie Donner & husband, Allen, Kathy Martin & husband, Jim and Donna Swartz & husband, Vic. Paul was immensely proud of his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by Stephanie Andres Rogers & her husband, Matt, Leslie Andres Mills, Matthew Andres & his wife, Carrie Beth, Amy Donner Lorenz & her husband, Chris, Darcy Donner Williams & her husband, Sterling, Jessica Donner, Andrea Martin Cooley & her husband, Gary, Emily Martin & her husband, David Adkins, Stephanie Kirk Colin & her husband, Shawn, Erica Kirk McBride & her husband, Woody, Kyle Andres & his wife, Ruth, Daniel, Lindsey & Kelly Andres, Anthony, Peter & Will Andres, and Zachary & Jacob Swartz. He was also blessed to have 15 great-grandchildren, Jay, Alex, Evan, Griffin, Jackson, Addison, Mya, Tristan, Thatcher, Thea, Oliver, Liam, Alex, Laynee and Seamus. Paul also leaves behind beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen T. Engle Andres; a son, Stephen; brothers, Anthony, Ambrose & Carl Andres; and sisters, Irma Bodenstadt, Martha Striegel, Alma Striegel and Gladys Koetter. Visitation will be from noon - 8 p.m. Sunday, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany. The family wishes to extend its thanks to the staff at Mercy/Providence Retirement Home for their tender love and care of Paul over the last few years. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Providence Jr. – Sr. High School or St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
