He was educated in Webster City before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1946. He was discharged in 1949. On March 5, 1950, he married Mary Kathryn Anderson. The couple resided in Webster City and Clear Lake, before moving to Tennessee nine years ago. He was a masonry contractor for 12 years, farmed for 10 years and owned and operated a motel for five years in Clear Lake. He retired from teaching at Iowa Central Community College, Webster City campus. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Gregory Dean Ambrose of Stanhope, George Henry Ambrose of Madison, Tenn., Marion Russell Ambrose of Smithville, Tenn., Kenneth Norman Ambrose of Webster City, Ben E. Ambrose of Eagle Grove; daughters, Marcia Kay Logan of Goodlettsville and Laura Marie Greene of Madison; mother, Bessie Ambrose of Webster City; sister Bonnieta Fye of Webster City, brother, Chet Ambrose of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father in 1935. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City.
