Page, another of the old settlers of this part of the state, died Sunday evening, says a Twin Bridges dispatch. Mr. Page was 79 years of age, and had been failing for some time. A few weeks ago he came up from Wibaux near where Clayton, his son resides, and where he spent the winter. Since his return his condition improved for a while, but two weeks ago he again commenced to decline and the end was momentarily expected. He was born in New York state April 28, 1834. During his infancy his parents moved to Michigan, where his boyhood days were spent. When the civil war broke out he joined Company A, Sixth Michigan volunteer cavalry and served all through the war, and was discharged from service at Salt Lake in February, 1866. Following his discharge he returned to Michigan, where he spent several years, finally emigrating to Montana with his family where he settled on a homestead in the Beaverhead valley, and engaged in farming and stock raising, which industry he followed for many years. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Clayton of Wibaux, and Fred E. of Blaine; one daughter, Mrs. William Nye of Pageville; two brothers, Rodney and J. M. Page of Twin Bridges. The deceased had been a devoted member of the Baptist church for many years. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. George D. They had five children: Elvira, Wallace Robert (1834-1913), Elmina, Rodney Walter, and James Madison Page. Wallace Robert Page, their oldest son, married Mary Lavina Wilson in 1856 and they had three children: Clayton Wallace (1860-1937), Fred Ernest (1868-1930), and Amy Louisa (1873-1925)." ~~ Wallace Robert Page's first wife, Mary L. Wilson, died on September 9, 1889. He married a second time to Mrs. Mary A. (nee Cohoe) Burtch on January 13, 1892, at Twin Bridges, Madison County, Montana. The marriage record shows that he was 57 years old born in Chautaqua County, New York.
