Sharleen was born in Keokuk, Iowa, on August 18, 1941, to Harold Ray and Julia Louise Cox Byrne. She was married to John "Jack" Helenthal, and later married Melvin Ray Rimer. Read More	Sharleen Marie Byrne, 76, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018,at the Clark County Nursing Home. Sharleen was born in Keokuk, Iowa, on August 18, 1941, to Harold Ray and Julia Louise Cox Byrne. She was married to John "Jack" Helenthal, and later married Melvin Ray Rimer. Both preceded her in death. Sharleen lived her whole life in the Kahoka and Keokuk areas. She was employed as a school bus driver by the Clark County School District. Sharleen was a very active member of the Keokuk branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For the past several years, she served as the president of the Daughters of Union Veterans. Sharleen never knew a stranger, and would do her best to help anyone in need. She enjoyed canning, sewing, quilting, and researching genealogy. Most important to her, was her family, and spending time with them. Sharleen is survived by: her mother, Louise, of Hamilton; her children, John (Shannon) Helenthal, of Keokuk, IA, Julia (Ritchie) McDaniel of Kahoka, MO, Robert (Peggy) Helenthal of Hamilton, IL, and Sarah (Todd) Stuecker, of Hamilton, IL; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; her sister, Marciene Dietzman, of Kahoka, MO; and her aunt, Regina, of Minnesota, whom she grew up with and was like a sister to her. Sharleen was preceded in death by her father, Harold, her husbands, John and Melvin, her great-granddaughter, Elaina Marie White, and her brother-in-law, John Dietzman. Service will be held at 10 AM, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Keokuk. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, in Keokuk. Visitation will be held after 4 PM, on Monday, May 28, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on 917 Blondeau Street, in Keokuk. Family will greet friends from 6- 8 PM. A memorial has been established to the Clark County Marching Band.
