Sharon Kay Engel was born to Henry & Merle Engel on April 10, 1945 in Winner, SD. She grew up in the Hamill area, attending rural school at Pleasant Valley and high school in Winner. Read More	Sharon Brown, age 68, of Winner SD passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center. Sharon Kay Engel was born to Henry & Merle Engel on April 10, 1945 in Winner, SD. She grew up in the Hamill area, attending rural school at Pleasant Valley and high school in Winner. After graduation, she moved to Cooper's boarding house and became a bookkeeper at Farmers State Bank. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Harley Brown. Harley & Sharon were married on November 18, 1967, and made their life in Winner. They had one daughter - Nancy Gayle. Sharon was a stay-at-home mom for 10 years before becoming a teacher's aide at the Winner Eastside Elementary, where she loved working with the kids. In 1990, Sharon became secretary of the United Methodist Church. Many times she was the first stop for those in need of a listening ear or a hug. She never hesitated to share her time and her compassion. She retired in 2004. Sharon was a busy lady over the years, including 4-H leader, accomplished seamstress, and piano teacher to 130+ students over 22 years. She kept busy in her church as well, organizing Christmas cantatas and Fall Festivals, making church banners, teaching Sunday and Bible School, and playing piano for church events. She was also pianist for the UMYF Worship Caravan and enjoyed chaperoning their trips for many years. Sharon's greatest joy by far was being a grandmother to Sophia and Adrienne. Their days together were filled with sleepovers, gingerbread houses, sewing lessons, baking cookies, Saturday morning crafts, tea parties, and anything else a little girl dreams to do with her grandma. She instilled in them a strong sense of faith and a love of music as well as the importance of kindness and compassion. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Galen) Lewis; granddaughters Sophia Ivy and Adrienne Analise, all of Winner SD; brothers Marlin (JoAnn) Engel, Casper WY, and Tim Engel, Pierre SD; sister Linda Tracy, Winner SD; sisters-in-law Mary (Ed) Blankenship, Atwater OH and Bonnie Robinson, Winner SD. Sharon is also survived by many nieces and nephews, with whom she had very special and close relationships. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son-in-law, Kevin Debus, in-laws Bud & Lois Brown, a nephew, Shane Robinson, and a brother-in-law, Charles Tracy.
