Sheryl “Sherry” Lynn Ramsdell Hill was born on May 26, 1956 to John Benjamin Ramsdell and Delores May (Hanson) Ramsdell Inman in Kenmare, North Dakota. She was brought home from the hospital to a small house in Norma, ND and nine years later moved with her family to the Ramsdell farm in rural Renville County. Sheryl “Sherry” Lynn Ramsdell Hill was born on May 26, 1956 to John Benjamin Ramsdell and Delores May (Hanson) Ramsdell Inman in Kenmare, North Dakota. She was brought home from the hospital to a small house in Norma, ND and nine years later moved with her family to the Ramsdell farm in rural Renville County. Her childhood days were spent playing outdoors with friends and cousins, attending numerous family birthday celebrations and roller skating at Mouse River Park. Sherry enjoyed reading, drawing and working on craft projects. She spent a portion of each summer staying with her grandparents and aunts and uncles. She was educated in Kenmare, ND and was an excellent student. Her personality was that of a quiet, shy girl and she had a small group of close classmates that she considered friends. She graduated from Kenmare High School in May of 1974. She furthered her education at Minot State University and graduated with a BS degree as a Radiology Tech. She was employed at Trinity Health for 17 years. She was married to Marshall Hill, Master Sergeant USAF Retired, on November 19, 1976 in Minot. Sherry and Marshall owned and operated Vanguard Photography in Kenmare from 1973-1980. In 1980 they moved from Kenmare to Minot where they have resided since. While they lived in Minot they operated Grand Studio of Photography until 2005 when Sherry became a stay at home mom. Her and her husband owned a cabin at Mouse River Park where they spent many summer days with their children and friends. She gave birth to two daughters Liahona and Sariah while also becoming a mother to Marshall’s 6 daughters and 2 sons from his previous marriage. Sherry was an active member of the Minot First Ward Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, where she served several positions including the president of the Relief Society as well as taught primary and Sunday school, and in the young women’s presidency. She also taught primary, seminary and Sunday school for six years in the New Town branch with her husband serving as branch president. Sherry always enjoyed helping Marshall with his outdoor projects. She was a very instrumental part in bringing the wood duck population to North Dakota with Marshall. They built and maintained many wood duck houses along the Mouse River over 65 miles from Bakers Bridge in Ward County to Swenson’s Bridge in Renville County. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed! She is survived by: Husband of 43 years, Marshall Jean Hill; Daughter, Sariah Lynn(Sherman Leroy) Sierra, New Town, ND; Step-Daughters, Veda Jo (Michael Lynn) House, Dassel, MN, Jaelann (Fred) Anderson, Salt Lake City, UT, Valorie Jean (William Earl) Spanogle, Bethlehem, PA, Marcia Dee (David) Mergenthaler, East Holena, MT, Lydia Ann Hirshfeld, Cedar City, UT, Donna Marie (Shane Owen) Sivertson, Layton, UT; Step-Sons, David Wade (Leslie Holden) Hill, Frankton, CO, Jeffrey Alan (Susan Booth) Hill, Velva, ND; Son-in-Law, John Rodell Corbett, Fargo, ND; Brother, Randall Ramsdell, McCook, NE; Sisters, Rita Hamsher, Berthold, ND, Linda Martin, Berthold, ND; 40 Grandchildren; 86 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, daughter Liahona Hill Curbett, sister, Debra Ramsdell, nephews, Michael Martin and Robert Gaskins and grandson, Kevin Mergenthaler. Visitation: Tuesday, November 19 from 4-7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Minot Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, North Dakota.
