She died Dec. 21, 2005, at MedCenter One Hospital in Bismarck. Shirley Ann Delker, daughter of Henry and Bertha (Junker) Delker was born Sept. 22, 1931, on the family homestead near Java, S.D. This is where she grew up and started country school. She graduated from Bowdle High School with the Class of 1949. She taught in a country school southwest of Eureka for two years. She was united in marriage to Ruben Bauer on Nov. 4, 1951, in the Congregational Church at Eureka. They made their home on the Bauer family homestead where they raised small grains and livestock. In 1987, they semi-retired and remained on the farm. Shirley enjoyed cooking, canning and had a very large garden. She also liked to quilt at the church. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in church circles and WELCA. Also, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband of Artas; two sons, David (Paulette) Bauer of Williston, N.D., and Paul (Denise) Bauer of Globe, Ariz.; three daughters, Mary (Tom) Rohrich of Zeeland, N.D., Betty (Steven) Walker of Madison, S.D., and Cheryl (Paul) Crisman of Morris, Ill.; two brothers, Erwin (Bette) Delker of Portland, Ore., and Robert (Violet) Delker of Bynum, Ala.; three sisters, Irene Schuler of Mansfield, Texas, Wilma “Tufy” Voorhees of Syracuse, Neb., and Lorraine Kautz of Devils Lake, N.D.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her parents and one granddaughter, Jennifer Rohrich, preceded her in death. Honorary Casketbearers will be Amanda Bauer, Trina Walker, Samuel Crisman, Ashley Bauer and Haley Bauer. Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Justin Bauer, Bruce Rohrich, Mark Rohrich, Allan Rohrich, Adam Walker and Andrew Bauer. Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka has been entrusted with arrangements.
