Shirley Ann Strutz, daughter of William and Sophie (Friedl) Strutz, was born on May 25, 1938, in South Shore, SD. The family moved to a farm near Watertown, SD, and later to Sioux Falls, SD. Shirley was united in marriage with Ken Daggett on October 8, 1955, in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple moved to California where Shirley worked as a Meat Wrapper and helped raise a family. The family returned to Sioux Falls after 18 years. Shirley worked as a housekeeper at the Sioux Falls Care Center which later became Golden Living Center Covington Heights. Shirley retired in 2008 to help care for her husband. Shirley enjoyed riding horses and flower gardening. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren and loved time with friends and family around. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter Deborah Goertzen and her husband Tim, Yakima, WA; sons Don Daggett, Sioux Falls, SD, Keith Daggett and his wife Kim, Andover, MN; brothers Jim Strutz and his wife Joan, Wilmar, MN, Bill Strutz, Story City, IA; sisters Carol Koenig and her husband Larry, Pine Island, MN, Kathy Rear, Watertown, SD; seven grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ken; and her brother Lawrence "Sonny" Strutz. Visitation with the family present will be from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home Westside Chapel, 6200 West 41st Street. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home Westside Chapel with burial at the Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
