Description	:	Shirley Ihla, age 51, of Bottineau, died Sunday in her home. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at the Grace Lutheran Brethren Church in Bottineau. Shirley Joyce Ihla, a daughter of Selmer and Joyce (Smith) Helgeson, was born on June 9, 1961 at Bottineau. She was reared there and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1979. Shirley Joyce Ihla, a daughter of Selmer and Joyce (Smith) Helgeson, was born on June 9, 1961 at Bottineau. She was reared there and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1979. On August 2, 1982, she married Michael Ihla at Bottineau. They made their home on a farm near Carbury. She worked at the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center and she also operated a craft store on Main Street. In 1987, they moved to Minot. She attended Minot State University and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. She then worked for the Williams Eye Center in Minot. They moved to Bismarck in 2006 and she worked at the St. Alexius Medical Center. Michael passed away on February 26, 2011. In August of 2011, Shirley moved back to Bottineau and was working at the St. Andrew’s Health Center. Shirley was a member of the Grace Lutheran Brethren Church in Bottineau where she was active in the Awana Club. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening and bird watching. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Shirley passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at her home. She is survived by her daughters, Ashley Janssen (Joshua) of Bismarck and Heather Ihla of Minot; grandchildren, Jennea and Teddy; mother, Joyce Helgeson of Bottineau; brother, Kevin Helgeson of Turtle Lake; and sister, Penny Henderson of West Fargo.
