(Palmer) Slifer, 89, of Hagerstown, Maryland, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Hagerstown, MD. Born on May 24, 1932, in Boonsboro, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Jacob and Hazel Irene (Jones) Palmer. Her husband, Paul H. Slifer, preceded her in death on July 3, 1997. Prior to marriage, she was employed with Hanover Shoe Factory in Middletown, Maryland. Shirley took great pride in her role as a homemaker, wife and mother. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville, Maryland. Shirley is survived by one son, Brenden P. Slifer and wife Deborah of Keedysville, Maryland; two sisters, Delores A. Kline of Boonsboro, and Sharon D. Glessner of Hagerstown; She is also survived by a niece, Angela Hahn of Hagerstown; and a nephew, Gregory Kline of Hagerstown. In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Kevin A. Slifer and her brother Ronald L. Palmer. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for the loving and compassionate care given to "Shirley Girl" while she resided at Commonwealth Senior Living for nearly seven years. A private graveside ceremony will be held at Boonsboro Cemetery. Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, Post Office Box B, Rohrersville, Maryland, 21779 or Hospice of Washington Co., 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
