Read More	Shirley Mae Miller was born August 29, 1931 on a farm in Seward County near Milford, to Chris and Mary Roth, the 3rd of six children and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at her home in Milford at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 14 days. As a young girl she attended Milford Public Schools. In her youth, Shirley accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at East Fairview Mennonite Church where she became a long and faithful member. On June 24, 1951, Shirley was united in marriage to Richard Miller and to this union eight children, John, Mary, Donald, Sherryl, Arla, Verlin, Rachel and Daryl were born. Together they made their home on the farm where Richard was born and raised southwest of Milford. Shirley was a busy farmwife and mother. During the haying and harvesting seasons, she would often bring homemade ice cream malts to those working in the hot fields. An excellent cook, she cared for a large garden, raising food for her family and sharing with others. She also enjoyed growing flowers and had many beautiful flower gardens. Shirley was employed at Sunrise Country Manor as supervisor of the housekeeping department for 38 years, retiring in 2008. She taught Sunday School for several years and served her church in many ways. Singing hymns was a meaningful part of her life and she enjoyed singing with her family, various church groups and friends. One of a kind, Shirley was loving and caring in all things. Her family was extremely important to her and she enjoyed following the activities of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed any occasion when her family could gather and fellowship together. Numerous trips were made to Oregon to spend time with family living there. Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard, Milford, children and spouses, John and Victoria Miller, Mary and Troy Mize, all of Salem OR, Don and Ginny Miller, Milford, Sherryl and Randy McDaniel, Albany, OR, Arla and Marty Roth, Dorchester, Verlin and Ann Miller, Milford, Rachel and Jim Garza, LaVista, and Daryl and Janal Miller, Lebanon, OR, 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law, Berniece and Clayton Beckler, Milford, Grace and Dale Grieser, West Point, Eunice and Marvin Oswald, Allen, NE, Vada and Kenneth Roth, Dorchester, sisters-in-law, AnnaMae Roth, Milford, Barbara Stutzman, Albany, OR, Norvene Miller, Corvallis, OR, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clifford and Peggy Miller, Sacramento, CA, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Earl Roth, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Kermit Miller, Merle & Irene Miller, Earl Stutzman.
