Description	:	**Handwritten: 62 MRS. MERRILL SWIFT Mrs. Merrill Swift, 42, died at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, June 17 in the Ottumwa Hospital. She had been in ill health for several years and had entered the hospital as a surgical patient June 4. She was the former Shirley Gardner, daughter of Dale and Marie Gardner, born near Selma June 8, 1920. A graduate of Selma High School, her life was spent in the Selma and Douds communities. Other survivors include two daughters, Sue and Sherri; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Gardner; one sister, Mrs. Mary Alice Pottorff of Perry; two brothers, Melvin Gardner of Batavia, and Michael Gardner of Selma. Mrs. Swift was a member of Christ Methodist Church in Douds and had served as a teacher in the Sunday School. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 19 at 1 p.m. at Christ Methodist Church, with Rev.
