Dvorak died April 23, 1985, at University hospital, Iowa City, of internal injuries he suffered in a tractor accident. Mrs. Connie Pyburn was the organist and Mrs. Tracy Novak was the soloist. Burial was in National cemetery, Vining. Pallbearers were Clarence A. Dvorak, Leonard Herink, David Klenk, James Johnson, Wayne Benda, Glen Blaha, Vernon Parizek and Charles Vesely. Sidney was born October 11, 1922 on the family farm where he resided in York township, Tama county, he was the son of Louis and Clara Bobinet Dvorak. He had been a farmer and was a member of Hawkeye Antique Tractor Pullers Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing along with antique tractor pulling. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two brothers, Clarence L. Dvorak, Cedar Rapids; Henry A. Dvorak, Chelsea; nephew, Clarence A. Dvorak, Cedar Rapids; niece, Delma A. Jantzen, Chelsea; and great-niece and nephew Sara and Dennis Jantzen, Chelsea. Hrabak Funeral home, Belle Plaine, was in charge of arrangements. The Belle Plaine Union, Wednesday, April 24th, 1985 page 1 A rural Chelsea man, Sidney Dvorak, 66, died Tuesday morning at University hospitals in Iowa City, from internal injuries he received after being pinned under a tractor for nearly three days. Dvorak was found Monday evening by a search party in a farm field about four miles northeast of Chelsea. Dvorak was reportedly last seen by his brother Friday. Dvorak is a bachelor living alone about four miles north of Chelsea. He reportedly had been filling a ditch about a half mile from his home when the accident happened. The tractor was found behind a hill, not visible from the road. Dr. Dennis Mallory; who was called to the scene, said he believed Dvorak suffered serious leg and internal injuries. The sheriff's department said he was pinned beneath the wheel and seat. The Belle Plaine Ambulance Service, Chelsea Rescue unit and Belle Plaine Fire Department's Jaws-of-Life were called to the scene around 10 p.m. Monday. The jaws were used to lift the tractor off of Dvorak. Dvorak appeared to be conscious and alert when rescuers reached him. He was taken by Air Care helicopter ambulance to University hospitals around 11 p.m. where he died early Tuesday. Contributor: George (48419540)
