He was a volunteer soldier of the Civil War, belonging to the 66th OVI, Co K. He was united in marriage to Ellen Buck in the year of 1866. To this union was born eleven children, seven of whom are living: David, John, Charles, Philip, Hettie McAlexander, Jane Shaffer, and Lavina Deal. He was united a second time to Barbara Runkle on July 4, 1885, who is left to mourn her loss. Mr Taylor was always a kind and obliging neighbor, and always ready to help where help was needed. He leaves to mourn their loss, seven children, forty six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one step daughter, Mrs Cora Taylor, and two brothers, Philip Taylor of Greenhill, IN, and William Taylor of Lawrence, KS.
