Description	:	I have checked the lot where Silas is buried, and I cannot find a gravestone for him. According to the WPA records, there was a stone in the cemetery for Silas when their readings were done. Silas' death certificate may be seen in familysearch.org. The informant of his information was Jefferson Parks, and Jefferson has been incorrectly indexed as Silas' spouse in familysearch.org. No parents were named on Silas' death certificate. From the research I have done, I believe that Silas was the son of Jacob and Nancy Parks. Silas was married to Nancy Ann Coop on May 1, 1856, in Jefferson County, Iowa. They are shown in the 1880 Census for Jefferson County, Iowa, with five children: Martha, Jefferson, Ann, Mary, and Silas Denver. -------------------------------------------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," Monday, November 1, 1920: Silas, Parks, age 88 years, died last evening at 5:30 o'clock at the home of his son, Jefferson Parks, west of Bidwell. He is survived by the following children besides his son Jefferson: Mrs. Belle Higgins of this city, Mrs. Mattie Peek of Mystic, Mrs. Anna Bain [sic-should be Bane] of Cedarville, Kas., Mrs. Mary Bivis [sic-should be Bivins] of southwest of this city and D.S. Parks of this city. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 10 o'clock from the residence. Rev. R.A. Karraker will officiate. Burial will be made in the Shaul cemetery.
