Description	:	Silas Rush, husband of Milvina Plessinger, was born in western Pennsylvania and moved to Knox County as a child with his parents, Nancy Russell and William Rush, and his brothers and sisters. Read More	Silas Rush, husband of Milvina Plessinger, was born in western Pennsylvania and moved to Knox County as a child with his parents, Nancy Russell and William Rush, and his brothers and sisters. He married Milvina Plessinger in Darke County Ohio, where he died 25 years later. Silas' small group of Rushes was a mystery, genealogically speaking, because he was not in the same line as the other, larger group of Rushes in Darke County, Ohio, although he lived there for much of his life (and was buried there). His father, William, brought the family from western PA to Knox County, Ohio, traveling with the family of Benjamin Russell, his father-in-law. When Ben Russell died, William is mentioned in the estate, but by then, William's wife Nancy Russell had died. William remarried to a woman named Catherine, probably Catherine Braugher. By this second wife, William had a daughter Caroline, who married a lawyer named Anderson. By the time William died, he and his second wife Catherine were living in Jay County, Indiana where he was buried in a graveyard later plowed over by a farmer, so there is no stone for him, although the estate papers included an invoice showing the cost paid to build him a coffin. A dispute erupted over William's estate. Caroline and her husband and her mother claimed expenses related to William's final expenses. The other children of the family, children of William Rush and Nancy Russell, went to court in Jay County, a case that dragged on several years. Another Jay County, Indiana researcher apparently stole records from the courthouse, leaving some holes in the paper trail, but the intestate estate names the children including Silas. Silas died not long after the paper trail grows cold. (William died in October 1869; Silas died in 1872.) Silas' half sister, Caroline, and her husband later moved to the Columbus, Ohio area where she is buried. During the course of many years of researching this family, I was provided a transcription of bible records found in papers related to the Plessinger family (since Silas' wife Milvina was a Plessinger). These named the children of Milvina and Silas. Silas' children were as follows: * Henry Hiller Rush * William Franklin or Francis Rush * Albert Rush * Benjamin Franklin Rush * Milton Rush (died as a child - grave location unknown - perhaps Jay County, Indiana) * Irwin Rush (died as a child - grave location unknown - perhaps Jay County, Indiana) * Dorothy (Rush) Brown died after 1883 marriage to E Brown (first name unknown) - had one child, Pearl, born seven months later, who suffered from epilepsy and was put in a home for epileptics, then died at age 19 at the home of her uncle Frank, per a newspaper obit.) The mother, Dorothy, perhaps died in around 1887, but this is unknown and the location of her grave or her husband's is unknown. - Cynthia Rush, researcher and descendant
