Description	:	SIMON E BROUSE Simon E., son of Cyrus and Mary Brouse, was born July 3, 1863, in Huntington township, Lorain county, Ohio, and departed this life at this home in Clear Lake township, Indiana, at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 23 days. On November 8, 1885, he was united in marriage to Carlotta Kellogg. Read More	SIMON E BROUSE Simon E., son of Cyrus and Mary Brouse, was born July 3, 1863, in Huntington township, Lorain county, Ohio, and departed this life at this home in Clear Lake township, Indiana, at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 23 days. On November 8, 1885, he was united in marriage to Carlotta Kellogg. To this union four children were born; Wesley, who preceded him in death nearly six years ago; Lena, who passed away in 1918; Mrs. Jane Henley, of near Ray, Ind., and Nettie at home. After the death of his daughter, his home was opened to her tow motherless girls – Lucile and Lorene Ranney, who received a parent’s love and care. He was converted under the labors of Rev. John Crouse during the winter of 1884, and has since been active in church work. His home was one to which ministers and other church workers were always welcome and anything pertaining to the church work received his generous support. He had lived nearly all of his life in Clear Lake vicinity, a man of sterling character, hard-working and of great endurance. He was one to whom all looked for counsel and advice as he ever had a heart to betterment and welfare of the community. In his home life he was ever kind and indulgent, always thinking first of those about him. Besides the wife and two daughters he leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Lincoln of near Fremont, Ind. And Lucius, of Ray, Ind.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held at his late home Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29, Rev. Ralph Morse, of Metz, Ind., officiating, assisted by rev. C.L. Smith and Rev. G.S. Seiple.
