He was born on October 2, 1930 in Keokuk, IA to Carl G. and Margaret Brown Bevering, Sr. On October 19, 1957 he married Mary C. Clark at Ss. Mary's Church in Ft. Madison. Hunky was the owner and operater of Gate City Glass in Keokuk for fifty years. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He served in the US Navy from 1948-1953 where he served on the Korean waters on minesweepers and battleships. Hunky also served on several committees and boards within the church and catholic school system. Survivors include his wife, Mary Kay Bevering of Ft. Madison; three daughters, Mary Beth (Brad) Breon of Hedrick, IA, Ann Marie (Joe) Clark of St. Petersburg, FL and Dr. Karen (Donald) Lindenfelser of Geneva, IL; one son, Dr. Carl (Lori) Bevering III of Tupelo, MS; nine grandchildren, Danielle and Amanda Breon, Nickalaus & Lauren Clark, Alexander & Sophia Lindenfelser, Ethan, Emma and Isabell Bevering; two sisters, Geraldine Bevering Kutz and Rosemary Bevering Glenn; two brothers, William C. Bevering and Robert Bevering; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother. The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 PM on Sunday, September 22 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A rosary will be recited at 2:30 PM and a Wake Service will be held at 5 PM both on Sunday at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory and online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com
