He passed away Thursday, March 18, 1926, at 5:30 p. m., at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 1 day. Solomon Erickson was born January 17, 1862, In Sweden. He spent his youth and young manhood there, and in the spring of 1884 came to America. Coming to Plymouth county, Iowa, he worked one year for Hans Erickson, near Crathorne. Then he worked in Sioux City two years, when he came back to this county and worked for E. R. Taylor on the farm for a year. Returning to Sioux, City, he worked for about a year and a half, where on October 11, 1890, he was united in marriage with Miss Ida Johnson. After their marriage they went to housekeeping on a farm near Crathorne. In 1898 Mr. Erickson bought a farm one and a half miles west of Adaville, in this county, where they lived for ten years. Selling this place, they bought another farm two miles west of Adaville, where they lived another ten years. Mr. and Mrs. Erickson retired from active farm life and moved to Akron in the spring of 1918. This has remained their home since that time. Mr. Erickson was an upright and industrious citizen, a kind husband and father and a helpful friend and neighbor. Left to mourn his departure are his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Qlga Anderson and Mrs. Edith Brundeen, of Akron vicinity; also, four brothers, John of Sioux City, August of Akron, Carl and Alfred of Sweden, and one sister, Beda Erickson, in Sweden. Two grandchildren also survive. A wide circle of friends extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives. After a brief service at the home at 1:30 p. m. Sunday, the funeral was held in the English Lutheran church of this city, conducted by Rev. O. F. Bohman. The Immanuel Male quartet sang both at the church and at the burial service. Six nephews acted as pallbearers, Carl, Albin, Edwin and Theodore Erickson, Herbert Miller and James Boetger. A large number of friends attended the funeral and the interment in Riverside cemetery. Relatives who came to the funeral from a distance were John Erickson, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Erickson and daughter, of Sioux City.
