Read More	The Centerville Daily Iowegian and Citizen Saturday, February 25, 1950 Sol Beer, Pioneer of County, Taken by Death Cincinnati - Solomon Beer, aged resident of the Cincinnati community, died in his sleep this morning, February 25, 1950, at his home northwest of here, where he had lived since the early '80's. Mr. Beer was 88 years old on December 30, 1949. He survived his wife, the former Arthelia Haines, by a span of 35 years. He was cared for by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. H. I. Beer, and his granddaughter, Mrs. Alice Bear. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Grace Rickman, of Watsonville, Calif., and one son, Irving of Centerville. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. The body is at the Miller Funeral Home in Centerville. Mr. Beer was one of the county's early pioneers and his farm west of Cincinnati was widely known. In the picture accompanying this article Mr. Beer is seen with remnants of a "stake and rider" fence that was in use on his farm up until a couple of years ago. It was believed to be the last bit of rail fence In the county still doing duty at that time. Mr. Beer was one of the first farmers of the county to raise a large acreage of flax and thruout the years and up until recent months the farm still produces fine flax. A large number of people knew Mr. Beer and mourn his passing. The Centerville Daily Iowegian and Citizen Tuesday, February 28, 1950 Solomon Beer Rites Held Monday Funeral services for Solomon Beer, pioneer resident of the Cincinnati vicinity, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, at the Christian Church in Cincinnati. Rev. Clifford Hart officiating, and Rev. Lyle Armstrong assisted. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
