Williams Funeral Home 241 West 4th Avenue Red Cloud, Nebraska 68970 ==== Sonee Sue Gass was born on November 2, 1942 to proud parents Aubrey James Gass and Mary Rosalie (Johanek) Gass and rejoined them in heaven on March 7, 2017. Sonee graduated from Esbon High with the class of 1960. She lived 74 years on the family farm northwest of Esbon, being an integral part of the farming operation. In her younger years, Sonee was in charge of the dairy calf operation and helped with the daily milking. During her later life, she willingly took over the bookkeeping aspects of the farm. Primarily, Sonee was a caregiver to her whole family. As a teenager she was the one to keep a watchful eye on her younger sister, followed in mid-life with protecting her two nephews during their farm escapades. Most importantly, Sonee unselfishly and courageously was one to care for our mother in her final years. No matter how demanding, difficult and emotionally as well as physically draining it was for her, Sonee's strong faith in God and her religious beliefs helped her to rise to the challenge of caregiver without ever complaining. Sonee loved to read, play cards at the Senior Center, listen to country western music and play bingo. She had a tender spot in her heart for animals and was always surrounded by barn cats, dogs and baby calves. During Sonee's time at the rehabilitation facility in Lincoln, Nebraska she revealed her social side. The staff and residents loved her sweet, outgoing nature and commented on it repeatedly. Sonee will be deeply missed by her friends and family. She leaves one brother, Randall (Linda) Gass of Esbon, one sister, Helene (Bob) Christensen of Liberty, Utah, and two nephews, Jeremy (Helene) Christensen and children of Ogden, Utah, and Ryan (Patricia) Christensen and son of San Antonio, Texas. The Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, 10:30 a.m., March 18, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Esbon, Kansas with the Fr. David Micheal officiating. Interment was at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Esbon. Williams Funeral Home 241 West 4th Avenue Red Cloud, Nebraska 68970
