Hower of Superior died at her home there (NOTE: see her death certificate), Saturday, June 3. The funeral was held from the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon, June 6, with the pastor, Rev. Lotan R. DeWolf in charge. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery (sic). Sophia Amelia Meyer was born in Quincy, Illinois, February 23, 1857. In 1865 she moved with her parents to Holt county (sic), Missouri. In 1880 the family moved again, this time to Brown county (sic), Kansas, where the subject of this sketch was married to Henry Hower, October 7, 1885, settling in Harrison township, Jewell county (sic), Kansas. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hower, three sons, John A., Clarence M., and Edward G., and two daughters, Alice May Woerner, and Jennie Rosetta Hower. They moved to Superior, Neb., October 6, 1910. Mr. Hower died November 23, 1910, less than two months after the family had settled in their new home. Mrs. Hower continued here (sic) residence in that city up to the time of her death. She was converted at the age of 18, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church (sic), of which she continued a faithful member and worker to the last day of her life. She was happy in her Christian experience, and ever (sic) reday (sic) to give a reason for the hope that was in her. Her father was a local minister of the church of her choice for 18 years. She, herself, was Sunday school superintendent for over eight years. The deceased is survived by her children whose names have been given, by eight grandchildren, three brothers, Edward Meyer, of Quincy, Ill., George Meyer of Bearberry Canada and Herman Meyer of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Englehart, of Sutton, Nebraska.
