Description	:	Sutton resident Sophia "Sophie" Trautman, 93, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton, NE. Sophia was born on September 5, 1918, to Balthasar and Rosina (Hofmann) Bitterman on a farm in Filmore County. Sophia married Walter P. Green and they had two daughters, Linda Shaw and Susan Hays. Walter died in 1963. On September 16, 1966, she married Lawrence Trautman in Sutton. Sophia's talents as a painter and paper hanger were in great demand and kept her busy. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking, sewing, fishing, gardening and tending to her flowers.... Her two great-granddaughters were her pride and joy. She loved to listen to Madison play the piano and her namesake, Sophia, always made her smile. She looked forward to having coffee and ice cream with her two girls. Sophia was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church and was active in their Ladies Aid until her health no longer permitted her to be. Sophia is survived by: husband, Lawrence Trautman of Sutton, NE; daughters, Linda Shaw and husband Carl of Sutton, NE and Susan Hays of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Carla and husband Dave Bruha and Clara Shaw all of Gretna, NE; Walter Hays and Michele Selvage of Lincoln, NE; and four great-grandchildren. Sophia was preceded in death by: first husband Walter Green, eight brothers, and two sisters. Sophia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She touched many lives with her big smile and generous heart. She will be missed by many. Interment in the Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, NE.
