Bock Peters was born near Hamburg, Germany, Dec 15, 1864, and departed this life April 17, 1852 after a few days illness of pneumonia, aged 87 years, 4 months and 2 days. She was the second child of John and Magdalena Bock and of a family of eight, seven girls and one boy. Her parents three sisters, and her brother preceded her in death. At the age of seven she came with her parents to America, landing at Plattsmouth, Nebraska, where she grew to womanhood with her family on a farm. She was reared in the German Lutheran faith and later, with her husband, united with the Congregational church of Weeping Water. On Jan 24, 1883, she was united in marriage to William Peters and to this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded her in death. The first family break was the passing of John Peters on April 17, 1946. On November 24, 1948 Albert Peters was taken, and on March 28, 1949 Mathilde Peters followed. The death of her husband, William Peters occurred Aug 24, 1951 and that of a son-in-law, Robert Draver, a few months ago. Through all these afflictions she showed much courage and fortitude. Left to mourn her passing, two daughters, Mrs. Irma Draver of Burwell, Mrs. John Cole (Edith), of Weeping Water; two sons, Walter Peters of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Tim Peters of Scranton, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. William Philpot of Arnold, Mrs. Jake Hild of Plattsmouth, and Mrs. Ed Gansemer of Nehawka; 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Mrs. Peters had been a resident of Cass county, Nebraska all her life in America and, with the exception of a few years, has lived in the Sunny Hill neighborhood. She has lived continually in her present home 55 years. She was a good mother, zealous in the care and welfare of her children, firm in admonition and ever will to help in sickness and misfortune, as well as in social activities. She was a faithful member of the Sunny Hill Helping Hand Aid Society which she helped to organize. She was a lover of nature, active in out-door life, especially interested in gardening and flowers. Her perennial flower garden was a spot of beauty. Since Mr. Peters' death, 8 months ago, she has continued to lived in her modern farm home, tenderly cared for by her family and with Mrs. Elvira Bussell as her valued companion, friend and helper. She has lived a full, well rounded, fruitful life and it may truly be said of her, in the language of the Bible, "She hath done what she could." Services were held at the Congregational church, Weeping Water, April 20, 1952 at 2pm with the Rev. John C. Pryor officiating. C.V. Wallick sang "In the Garden" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", accompanied by Miss Kathryn Ellis. Pallbearers were John Hansen, Arthur Hild, Howard Philpot, Sterling Ingwerson, Henry Hild and Wallace Hunter. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Weeping Water.
