Description	:	1.) Sophronia Shippy, beloved wife of Elder John Shippy, passed from this earthly life August 31, 1905, at Lamoni, Iowa, aged 83 years, 5 months, and 22 days. She was born near Symphronius, New York, March 9, 1822. She was married to Elder J. Shippy, December 28, 1841, near Springville, Indiana, and they lived husband and wife for more than 63 years. To them were born three daughters and three sons. One of the daughters preceeded (sic) the mother in death. Mrs. Shippy lived in Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Canada twice, Michigan and Illinois, during the years intervening... Read More	1.) Sophronia Shippy, beloved wife of Elder John Shippy, passed from this earthly life August 31, 1905, at Lamoni, Iowa, aged 83 years, 5 months, and 22 days. She was born near Symphronius, New York, March 9, 1822. She was married to Elder J. Shippy, December 28, 1841, near Springville, Indiana, and they lived husband and wife for more than 63 years. To them were born three daughters and three sons. One of the daughters preceeded (sic) the mother in death. Mrs. Shippy lived in Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Canada twice, Michigan and Illinois, during the years intervening between 1841 and 1905. She looked largely after the bringing up of the family while her husband was engaged in missionary work, in which he was zealously engaged for a number of years. She was baptized into the Saints' church in 1844, by her husband, and maintained her faith in Christ to the end. Quite a large concourse of friends and neighbors attended the funeral held at the home September first [1905] at 10:30, Elder C. Scott preaching the sermon and Elder I. P. Biggerly offering prayer. Husband, two daughters, and three sons, besides other relatives remain to mourn her loss. The family hereby extend thanks for favors so tenderly shown during their bereavement. Deceased was born at Symphronius, New Yory (sic), March 9, 1822. On December 28, 1841, she was united in marriage to John Shippy, near Springville, Ind., having been a loving wife and a faithful companion for almost 64 years. Six children, three sons and three daughters were born to this union, one daughter preceeding (sic) the mother in death. John Shippy was from early manhood a traveling missionary, representing the L. D. S. Church. His wife was faithful to her trust all those years, being denied much for the cause she loved. Forty years of their marired (sic) life was spent in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Canada. In 1885 they removed to Lamoni, where they have since resided. The funeral services were from the home Friday morning [September 1, 1905] at 10:30, the discourse being preached by Elder Columbus Scott. Interment in Rosehill. The many friends of the family manifested their sympathy on the day of the services. CARD OF THANKS. John Shippy and family extend thanks to all who sought to comfort during their sad bereavement.
