He came to Washington with his parents in 1887 and was the first forest supervisor in this district. Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday at the Hennessy mortuary chapel in Leavenworth. The Rev. W. B. Young will officiate, with burial in Leavenworth cemetery. Born in Illinois in 1874, he came to Ellensburg in 1887 and to Lake Wenatchee in 1890. His father homesteaded there and later Mr. Blankenship had a homestead. In 1906 he entered the U. S. Forest Service. Starting as a forest ranger, he has served in all ??? of the Wenatchee National Forest, retiring in 1935 because of ill health. In 1921 he married Jessie Scott at Yakima. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Spencer of and Buford Blankenship of Wenatchee; two daughters, Mrs. Olive Bengtson of Wilmer, Minn., and Mrs. Helen Ford of Omak, and six grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Sarah E Blankenship of Wenatchee; two sisters, Mrs. Estelle Reardon of Wenatchee and Mrs. May Herscher of Moose Jaw, Sask.; five brothers, Eddie O. Blankenship of Stehekin, Ernest of Wenatchee, Floyd and Howard, of Klamath Falls, Ore and Harry of Seattle. SERVICES ARE HELD Funeral services for Spencer A. Blankenship, 65, of 913 No. Emerson St., were held from the Hennessy mortuary chapel in Leavenworth this afternoon, with the Rev. W. B. Young of Wenatchee officiating. Burial was in the Leavenworth cemetery. Mrs. Blankenship retired from the U. S. forest services in 1935 after 29 years. He died at his home Saturday night.
