He was a very small child when his oldest brother, John did not come back after the Civil War and he had a nervous breakdown because of that and all the question of what happened to John who died as a prisoner of war. He was afraid of anyone in a uniform because he thought they would take him away and he could never come back home. I was told this by my oldest family members and the documents of his entry into this hospital stated this to be true. After his parents died he was placed in Dix Hospital where he lived almost 50 years until his death. He was musically talented and once visited a home with an organ.
