Sage, one of the strongest writers on the South Dakota weekly press and well known as the editor of the State Journal at St. Lawrence, has moved his paper to Huron, where he will continue its publication. H. C. Shaber has purchased Mr. Sage's interests at St. Lawrence and has issued the first number of the St. Lawrence Journal. Article from the "Argus-Leader" of Sioux Falls, South Dakota dated 2 Jan 1896: S. L. Sage, one of the most pungent and forcible newspaper men in the state, has been placed in charge of the Mellette Tribune. Mr. Sage was in Eagle Grove last week on business and was found dead. The cause was supposed to be heart trouble. Mr. Sage was formerly a deputy revenue collector for this district of Iowa. Sage [sic] of Garner, Ia., was found dead in the yard of a livery barn on the east side. He had been about the town for a number of days selling a recipe for making smokeless powder. Sage [sic], a peddler from Garner, was found dead in the yard of a livery barn, in Eagle Grove, under peculiar and mysterious circumstances, He had been seen early in the day in apparent good health.
