Description	:	OBIT: Ellensburg resident Stanley A. Sorenson, 62, of 500 Linda Lane, died Thursday evening at his home. He was born May 11, 1922 in Ellensburg, the son of the late Albert Sorenson and Elizabeth (Travers) Sorenson. He was educated in Ellensburg schools and later graduated form Washington State University. He served in the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. Following his discharge, he coached athletics at Highland High School in the lower Yakima Valley. He returned to Ellensburg to coach at Ellensburg High School from 1955 to 1963. He was born May 11, 1922 in Ellensburg, the son of the late Albert Sorenson and Elizabeth (Travers) Sorenson. He was educated in Ellensburg schools and later graduated form Washington State University. He served in the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. Following his discharge, he coached athletics at Highland High School in the lower Yakima Valley. He returned to Ellensburg to coach at Ellensburg High School from 1955 to 1963. He was assistant basketball coach at Central Washington University from 1964 to 1977. He also was an assistant professor in the physical educaton department at CWU until he retired in August 1964 due to ill health. Mr. Sorenson was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and the Washington State Coaches Association. He is survived by his wife, the former Judi McClain who he married December 29, 1964 in Spokane; a son, Stephen, of Ellensburg; two daughters, Beth and Sars, both of Ellensburg; his mother, Beth (Sorenson) Gehlen of Ellensburg; two brothers, Dick and Jim Sorenson both of Seattle; a sister, Betty Suver of Seattle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said at noon Monday at St. Andrews with the Rev. John Murtagh officiated. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the St. Andrews building fund or to Kittitas County Home Health, P. O. Box 740, Ellensburg.
