Harrier, 79, was a General Electric manager Terrace Park man held several patents. Stanley C. Harrier, retired General Electric manager died Monday from brain cancer at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash. The Terrace Park resident was 79. Mr. Harrier was born in Valley, NE, and graduated from Valley High School in 1938. His family moved to Culver City, Calif., soon after and he attended Santa Monica College. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and served during World War II. His Navy service took him to the Aleutian Islands, the Philippines and Japan. He was discharged in 1945. After discharge, Mr. Harrier continued his education at the University of Southern California where he earned a bachelor's degree. Mr. Harrier began working in research and development for McDonald Douglas and Lockheed Aircraft Corp, both in Los Angeles. In 1956 he founded the World Plastics Corp. in Los Angeles. He sold his interest in the company in 1962. "Those achievements were very important to him," said Jane Harrier, his wife of 50 years. "He was a very creative and inventive person in the field. He truly enjoyed his work. But he also enjoyed socializing and being with his children and friends." As a structural plastics engineer in Sacramento, Calif., he was a member of the team responsible for developing the Polaris Intercontinental Ballistic Missile for Aerojet General. He also worked with the Space Technology Corp. in designing equipment for the Outer Space Geophysical Laboratory. Mr. Harrier moved to Terrace Park in 1965 and joined GE's Aircraft Engine Group as manager of Advanced Composite Materials and Processes. Mr. Harrier received many industry awards and held several patents in the aircraft industry. He retired from GE in 1986 and began his own consulting corporation, the Composite Consulting and Research Corp., which provided services for the development of advanced composites for aircraft companies. He gradually closed the corporation and retreated to the golf course, his wife said. A family man, Mr. Harrier devoted his time to his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed theater, music, ballroom dancing and playing bridge. Other survivors are a son, Timothy of Kenwood; two daughters, Sue Harrier Dolan of Terrace Park and Mary Harrier Arkeilpane of Buffalo, NY; a brother, Keith Harrier of Silmore, Calif., and 10 grandchildren
