Description	:	Stanley D. Burnside Stanley D. Burnside, 61, of Stapleton, died Feb. 7, 2012, in Firth after a long bout with cancer. Stanley was born on July 18, 1950,in North Platte, to Roy A. and Lila S. (Joedeman) Burnside. He grew up on the Wilcox place west of Stapleton and after attending country school graduated from Stapleton High School in 1968.After graduation, Stan joined the Nebraska National Guard and took employment for Dean Hanna at AA Service Station. He grew up on the Wilcox place west of Stapleton and after attending country school graduated from Stapleton High School in 1968.After graduation, Stan joined the Nebraska National Guard and took employment for Dean Hanna at AA Service Station. Later he became the fuel deliveryman at Logan County Coop and on one of these trips he met his wife-to-be. In 1970 Stanley married Roberta Meyers-Baker. The couple purchased the Weber place south of Stapleton. At this time Stan embarked on his God-given love of farming, starting out with a little rented land, then custom farming with his Uncle Robert Joedeman. He loved to raise crops and livestock. Stanley will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Stan never knew a stranger and was an extremely giving person. He loved to visit with his neighbors, especially his friend James Main. They would talk on the cell phone for hours. Stan could fix about anything, whatever was pulled up by the shop, after a time would come out running like new. When he wasn't on the farm, Stan loved to travel. He and Roberta took many trips to the west coast seeing family and the girls on the way. Stanley attended Gandy Community Bible Church where he was a member and enjoyed fellowship with his church family. Survivors include his wife, Roberta, of Stapleton; five children, Yvonne (Ron) Meachum, of Parowan, Utah, Carole (Scott) Brotherton, of Cheyenne, Wyo., Teri (Brian) Maciejewski, of Denver, Colo., Rich and Polly Burnside, of Stapleton, and Craig (Jessica) Burnside, of Firth; a brother, Alan (Charlene) Burnside, of Stapleton; grandchildren, Tyler (Megan) Meachum, Jenna (Benjamin) Marshall, Levi Meachum, Daniel (Rachel Roberts) Warren, Kensie, Kaylee, Hannah and Caleb Burnside, Emily and Rayley Burnside; great-grandchildren, Reece Meachum, Jael Marshall; uncles, Robert (Luella) Joedeman and Harold (Mary) Joedeman, all of Stapleton, and Henry (Joyce) Joedeman, of Aurora; aunts, Joyce (George) Schaeffer and Rose (Jim) Wonch, all of Stapleton, and Willa (Clarence) Hendrich, of Portis Kan.; a special cousin and caregiver, Patricia Lewis, of Lincoln; niece, Priscilla (Greg) Vega, of North Platte; nephew, Dean Burnside, of Stapleton; numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several uncles and aunts. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Okla., for their wonderful care of Stanley. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at the North Platte Berean Church with Pastor Frank Scott officiating. Burial will be at the McCain Cemetery near Stapleton. Visitation will be today from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friend from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
