Description	:	Stanley Wood, 66, Woodbine, Iowa, formerly of Blencoe, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Rose Vista Nursing Home at Woodbine. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Rush Family Chapel at Onawa, Iowa with John Sears, Minister, officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, Iowa. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army. Stanley Harold Wood was born June 30, 1944 at Onawa, Iowa, the son of Newt and Ruby (Young) Wood. He was raised and attended school in Harrison County. He joined the United States Army September 1, 1962 and served until his honorable discharge February 28, 1963. He married Sharon Gates, they had a son Melvin, and later divorced. In 1975, he married Margaret Moore and they later divorced. Stanley was employed at the Coop Elevator at Onawa, Iowa for many years. He also was involved as a commercial fisherman and in junking. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, hunting mushrooms and gambling. Survivors include a son, Melvin Wood of Bremerton, WA; a step son, Philip Moore of Onawa; a step daughter, Kay Clayton of Mapleton, IA; six grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren and a sister, Pearl Hupp of Onawa. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Perry, Norman, Ivan, and Homer; a sister, Doris Cox and a step grandson, Dustin Moore. I love my Dad very much. It hurts me deeply not to be there to say the final Goodbye. Dad would never say goodbye. It was always "love you" and click (the phone receiver). To him Goodbye was for the final goodbye (death). So. I love you dad and Goodbye. I will never forget our conversations and your fart jokes. Rest in Peace! Melvin and the grandkids.
