Stanley Overby was born May 17, 1919, in Bryan Township of Griggs County, near Binford, ND, the son of Andrew and Susie (Barclay) Overby. He attended country school, and then worked with his father and for other area farmers. Cleo Maxine Overby was born November 17, 1922, also in Bryan Township near Binford, the daughter of Herbert and Thea (Falla) Hanson. She attended country school and then worked on her father's farm. On February 19, 1942, Stanley and Cleo were united in marriage at Moorhead, MN. In April, Stanley entered the US Army and served in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. Following his discharge, Stanley and Cleo farmed near Binford. Cleo had worked as a bartender in McHenry, and owned and operated her own bar in Binford during the mid-1980's. She worked for Posi-Lock in Cooperstown, ND, for 22 years until her retirement. After having farmed, Stanley worked for the railroad and also did road construction. He began working for Reiten Manufacturing in Cooperstown and the Tough T Manufacturing in Glenfield, retiring in 1979. Stanley then worked part-time on his son-in-law, Mark Anderson's farm at Grace City. They were members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McHenry. Stanley was a member of the McHenry american Legion and the Glenfield V.F.W. They are survived by two sons; Garry (Sue), Jamestown, ND, Eugene (Arlys), Glenfield, ND; four daughters, Frances (Roger)Manz, McHenry, ND, Charlotte Kollman, Glenfield, ND, Joan (Mark) Anderson, Grace City, ND, and Susan (John) Brandt, McHenry, ND; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters, Stanley and Cleo were preceded in death by one son-in-law, Jerry Kollman. Contributed by Dennis C. Olson
