Father Ken Koster will be the Celebrant. Stanton Wallace Fox was born on October 8, 1965, to Clarence and Rosamond (Fouquette) Fox, in Decatur, Illinois. He grew up in Decatur and graduated from St. Theresa Catholic High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and his law degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He was employed as the Assistant City Attorney in Rapid City and worked in private practice in Alaska, before serving as the City Attorney in Watertown from 2001-2016, serving under four mayors. Stanton was a member of the State Bar Associations in South Dakota, Alaska and Illinois. He helped to create the nonprofits, Friends of the Watertown Library and the Zoological Society. Stanton was instrumental in the writing of the Articles of Incorporation and bylaws for Divine Providence of South Dakota and served as their attorney and as a member of the board of directors. He also served as vice-president on the board of directors for St. Ann’s Foundation of the Mother of God Monastery. Stan was a member of the Elks Lodge and served as their Esquire. He was active in Karing Kapers for several years, and was an avid collector of anything related to Winnie the Pooh, the Wizard of Oz, and Mr. Potato Head. Per Stan, everything in life could be related to an episode of the Andy Griffith Show. Stanton is survived by siblings, Taylor Fox, of Watertown; Kelly (Page) Fox, of Athens, Ill.; Cordell (Phyllis) Fox, of Grant, Fla.; Melanie (David) Morrow, of Watertown; and by his twin brother, Steven (Lisa) Fox of Lead; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
