Mount Pleasant (IA) Free Press Thursday, 28 March 1895 Trenton Tracings For Free Press: Sadness intensified visited the home of Isaac McPherron home, Sunday and Monday, and has indeed left it desolate. Rarely is it allotted to any household to bear a double sorrow like this one where mother child passed from this world almost together Mrs. Stella McPherron, daughter of John and Mary Black, was born in Trenton township in 1855. Here she grew to womanhood, and in 1874 married Isaac McPherron. Three children graced their home until Sunday morning when the youngest, Jesse, born May 30, 1892, died after an illness of several months. Mrs. McPherron had been in delicate health for many years, and in December, worn by watching at the bedside of her young son Jess, she became an easy prey for consumption, and gradually weakened until her death released her Monday morning. Two children, Etta and Elmer, together with the father, are left to mourn their double loss. Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock the procession wended its weary way to (can't read) Chapel where mother and son were interred in the one grave. Rev. Smith delivered the burial sermon and spoke word of comfort to the stricken relatives and saddened friends to whom also the community extends sympathy. (Obit supplied by No Reins)
