Visitation will be held Tuesday 5 – 8 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church in Goose Lake. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will be at Center Grove Cemetery. Steve was born on Nov. 10, 1954 in Sacramento, CA, the son of Arthur and Lois (Stolk) Farwell. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1972. He married Barbara Cousins on May 22, 1976 in Goose Lake. Steve was a truck driver with Kunau Implement and a plumber with Ron Poole. In 1978 he went into trucking business with his father, bought his first truck in 1980, and since 1984 owned and operated Steve Farwell Trucking. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Goose Lake Lions Club, and the Eastern Iowa Nova Club. His pride and joy was having his grandfather's 1950 Ford pickup restored and driving it on Sunday afternoons. He also liked to attend antique car shows, sometimes entering the 1950 Ford pickup in them. He enjoyed traveling, having traveled with his wife and daughters throughout the United States. He also looked forward to the February tropical vacations with friends. Steve traveled to Ghana Africa twice to support Renee's Mawuvio's Outreach Programme, helping to paint the new school building in Dec. 2012. He was held in high esteem in Ghana, being called the "father" of M.O.P. Steve was very proud of his two daughters, Renee and Ellen. Steve is survived by his wife, Barbara Farwell of Goose Lake; his two daughters, Renee Farwell of Chicago, IL / Ghana and Ellen Farwell (Derek Witt) of Andover; his mother, Lois Farwell of Preston; a brother, Kenneth Farwell of Clinton; two nephews, Dean (Melanie) Farwell and Ken Allen (Codi) Farwell; and two nieces, Lynn Farwell and Jenny Farwell. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and a nephew.
