A funeral was held at United Methodist Church in Stickney, S.D., with interment at Dudley Cemetery near Stickney. Mr. Barrows was born June 20, 1944, in Mitchell, S.D. He grew up on the family farm in Truro Township, where he attended Wilson Elementary School. He graduated from Stickney High School in 1962. He grew up on the family farm in Truro Township, where he attended Wilson Elementary School. He graduated from Stickney High School in 1962. Mr. Barrows worked at Rogers Grocery in Stickney during high school. He attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell for two years, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1964. Following training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, Texas, and Amarillo Military Training Center at Amarillo, Texas, he served two years at Clark Air Base, Philippines. From 1966 to 1968, he served in Vietnam. During a brief furlough between tours in Vietnam, he married Sharon Kuyper in July 1967. Following his second Vietnam tour, they relocated to McChord Air Force Base near Tacoma, Wash., and later Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, where he completed military service. He worked with Wien Alaska Airlines as a purchasing agent for 13 years. He worked for Northern Air Cargo in Anchorage in the purchasing department for two years and had worked in the purchasing department for Peak Oilfield Service Co. at Prudhoe Bay for eight years. Mr. Barrows was a member of Royal Order of Moose, Lodge 1534. His family said: "Steve had an outgoing personality and was an individual who reveled in doing helpful things for his family and friends." He was preceded in death by his father, William, paternal grandparents, George and Sephora, and maternal grandparents, Earl and Effie Teesdale. Surviving is his mother, Vivian (Barrows) Meoska, stepfather, Lawrence Meoska, sister, Janis, and her husband, Bobby Miller, brother, Gary, and wife, Sharon, all of South Dakota; niece, Becky, and her husband, Jim Grace; four nephews, two grandnephews; special friend Nova Wilbur, of Federal Way, Wash.; and other friends and relatives. Arrangements were handled by Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel in Anchorage and Lien Funeral Chapel in Stickney.
