Read More	Alcona County Review Thursday, May 29, 1913 STEWART VAN BUSKIRK DIES IN DETROIT -------- Prominent Business Man of Harrisville Passes Away in Hospital -------- Stewart Van Buskirk died Tuesday, May 27, at 9:30 o'clock, in Harper hospital, Detroit, from bright's disease. Though Mr. Van Buskirk was known to be very ill, but few knew of his critical condition, and the end came much sooner than even these few anticipated. He had been ailing for some time and on April 27 he went to Mercy hospital, in Bay City, for treatment. He returned from Bay City two weeks later and on Wednesday, of last week, he was taken to Harper Hospital, Detroit, where he received every care that medical skill and trained nursing could devise. The remains arrived here Wednesday afternoon in charge of Stewart Monroe of Detroit, a nephew of the deceased, and Duncan McRae. They were met at the railway station by a delegation of members of Alcona lodge No. 292, F. & A. M., of which Mr. Van Buskirk was a member, and escorted to the home of L. H. Dunn, where the deceased had made his home for a number of years. The funeral well be held from there Saturday at 2 o'clock p.m. standard. Burial at South Harrisville. Stewart Van Buskirk was born at Pine Run, Michigan, on October 7, 1861, and would have been 52 years old in October of this year. He came to Harrisville with his parents at the close of the Civil war, and grew to young manhood here. In early life he lived at Harbor Beach, Detroit, and other places and learned the trade of mill wright and was a skilled machinist. In 1895 he married Miss Ruth Dunn, and for a time conducted a machine and repair shop at the present Novelty Works site. Later he went to Alaska during the gold excitement and was in that country for about five years. Mrs. Van Buskirk joined him in Alaska and died at Gold Bottom on Aug. 2, 1902. Owing to the ill health of his father, the late Joseph Van Buskirk, Stewart returned to Harrisville and after the death of his father in October, 1905, he was appointed administrator of the extensive Van Buskirk estate, in which capacity he had been employed ever since. His death comes as a shock to the community and is the cause of deep regret for his many friends and associates. Not only will he be greatly missed from his immediate circle of friends but his sudden taking away leaves a void in business circles that will be felt for months to come. The immediate relatives are his mother, Mrs. Mary L. Van Buskirk of Harrisville, and sister, Mrs. Minnie Monroe of Detroit, who is at present a patient in the Battle Creek sanitarium. Mrs. Van Buskirk has been spending the winter in Sarnia, but is expected to arrive here today with her nephew, Wilber Monroe of Detroit.
