Henry Hackman officiated at the service. Music was furnished by Mrs. Richard Eby, accompanied by organist Miss Carol Ruth Miller. Bearers were Harry Swain, Elmer Wharton, Bennie Grinnell, Bernard Nelk, Arthur Cox and Rudolph Heesch. Interment was in the Woodbine Cemetery. Streamer Gladhill Hare, son of Joseph R. and Miranda Ritchie-Hare, was born near the town of Smicksburg, Pennsylvania, on February 22, 1883, and passed away November 25, 1960, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 3 days. He grew up in Pennsylvania and came to Iowa in 1909 at the age of 26. He was united in marriage to Bessie Margaret Young on June 22, 1910. To this union three sons were born: William of Woodbine, Bernard of Des Moines and Wallace of Logan. Mr. Hare was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Smicksburg, Pennsylvania and Woodbine. He transferred his membership in the Lutheran Church at Smicksburg to the Methodist Church in Woodbine. With the exception of a few years, when he worked in the Woodbine Hardware Store, he was engaged in farming until December 1953, when he moved to Woodbine, which has since been his home. He and his wife were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on June 22 of this year. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, six brothers, Samuel, David, John, William, Joseph and Lester; and four sisters, Hannah, Annie, Phoebe and Ida. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, three sons, five grandchildren and one brother, George, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, many other relatives and a host of friends. --------------------- The Woodbine Twiner Woodbine, Iowa December 1, 1960
