Her girlhood days were spent in Canada, Mo., and Marshall county, Kansas, where at the age of 18 years she was married to Homer A. Van Amburg. To this union were born three children namely, Charles Henry, now of Yakima, Washington, Fred Daniel, now of Gooding, Idaho, and Mrs. Mamie Burchett of Denver, Colo. Her girlhood days were spent in Canada, Mo., and Marshall county, Kansas, where at the age of 18 years she was married to Homer A. Van Amburg. To this union were born three children namely, Charles Henry, now of Yakima, Washington, Fred Daniel, now of Gooding, Idaho, and Mrs. Mamie Burchett of Denver, Colo. The family moved to Hollis, Kan., at which place her husband departed this life, September 7, 1891. On April 5, 1894 she was united in marriage to Eli Ramsbottom and after living at Hollis one year, they moved to his farm near Munden, where one child, Mrs. Thursa Pointer was born. On April 17, 1899 she again was left a widow with her four children and a step son, Fred T. Ramsbottom, who departed this life September 6, 1902. On March 27, 1902 she was married to Nathaniel E. Griffin. She was converted and united with the M. E. church, in her youth. She has lived a consecrated Christian life always attending church and Sabbath School if it were at all possible for her to do so. She was devoted to her home and friends and was known for her kind acts of charity. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and Missionary Societies, and has either acted as superintendent or taught a class in the church for years. (KS) Belleville Republic County Democrat May 16, 1923 Burns to Death at Munden This community was shocked Tuesday to learn that Mrs. N. E. Griffin living a mile east of Munden was so frightfully burned about 5 o'clock Tuesday morning that she died at 2:45 in the afternoon. Mr. Griffin awakened and smelled smoke, hurried to the kitchen where the incubator was running. He tried to remove the lamps which were on fire, but could not move the bracket, and called Mrs. Griffin who was sleeping in an adjoining room. Mr. Griffin got the lamp off and ran out of doors and returned to find Mrs. Griffin in flames. Mrs. Griffin had on an outing flannel gown which was ignited by the burning oil. Mr. Griffin threw a robe around her and she had presence of mind enough to go into the bathroom and shut the door to exclude the air. Mr. Griffin got a comforter also, but the clothing was completely burned of her body and she passed away a 2:45 Tuesday afternoon. She departed this life May 15, 1923 at the age of 60 years and 4 months. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, four children, 9 grandchildren, one step-daughter with five children, one sister, Mrs. Lottie Mayhew of Red Wood City, Calif., two brothers, Charles T. Lanchester of Terlock, Calif, and Preston Lanchester of Bliss, Idaho, and a host of relatives and friends. From this world of pain and sorrow To a land of peace and rest. God has taken our dear wife and mother, Where she has found eternal rest. "She walked with God, but she is not, God has taken her."
