Description	:	Susan Anne Myerchin, 88, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at her son's residence following a lengthy illness, under hospice care. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin J. Schrad officiating. There will be an honor guard by the St. Vincent School of Nursing Alumni Association. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m, and a parish Vigil service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Larkin Northside Chanel. Susan was born June 6, 1918, in Granville, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and AnneMary (Meyers) Schumacher. She was raised in the Granville and AIton Iowa area. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Alton, in 1938. She came to Sioux City in 1938 and graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1941. She served with the Veterans Administration as a registered nurse at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, Calif., throughout World War II. She then was employed at Mercy Medical Center in Sacramento, Calif. She returned to Sioux City in 1945. She married Sylvester P. Myerchin on Aug. 1, 1945, at St. "Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. She worked at St. Vincent Hospital, later known as Marian Health Center and finally as Mercy Medical Center for more than 30 years. Mr. Myerchin died June 14, 2006, in Sioux City. She was a member of, St.Vincent School of Nursing Alumni Association, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Catholic Women League. She was a former member of the church confaternity. She enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events. She also enjoyed being involved with the politics of the time when she was able. She is survived by Greg E. Myerchin of Sioux City; two grandchildren and their spouses, Richard and Nichole Scott of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Angie and Kurt Belger of Urbandale, Iowa; a son-in-law, Mark Scott of Dakota Dunes., S.D.; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jane, Payton and Olivia Belger; two sisters, Clara Marie Harling and Martha and her husband, Emil Bader, all of Sacramento, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Myerchin; a daughter, Jane Scott; a grand-son, Chad Scott; and 11 siblings, Nicolas "Nick" Joseph Schumacher, Cecelia Schumacher, Joseph "Joe" Beary Schumacher, Jeanette Kiehl, Martin "Marty" Schumacher, John "Jack"Schumacher, Herbert "Hep" Schumacher, Mary Ann Eis, Ambrose "Bush" Schumacher, Laura Schumacher and Raphael "Ray" Schumacher. Pallbearers will be Mark Scott, Richard Scott, John Schumacher of Sioux City, Paul Schumacher, John Schumacher of Urbandale, lowa, and Mike Kennedy. The family wishes to express sincere and special thanks to the Family Practice Center staff and Mr. Michael Jung, Sue Fey and Peggy Foulk.
