Description	:	By Marshall G. Brown and Francis Turner: SUSAN HARVEY, youngest child and daughter of Rezin and Elizabeth Queen Harvey, was born April 6, 1821, and died March 12, 1898. She married Oct., 14, 1841, William Sharpless, son of Aquilla and Sarah Tichinel Sharpless. He was born May 8, 1820, and died Jan., 28, 1900. Mr. Sharpless was a farmer and furniture maker. Most of his life was spent in Garrett County, Maryland. He was appointed Justice of the Peace for the First District (Altamont) in Garrett County in 1874, 1878 and in isso. Mr. and Mrs. Sharpless lived in the Mt. Zion section of Garrett County and were buried in the Sharpless Cemetery at the Mt. Zion Church. There is a modest grave marker at each of their graves. Following is an excerpt from The Sharpless Family by Francis Turner, that appeared in The Mountain Democrat, April 22, 1937. Francis Turner was a grandson of William and Susan Harvey Sharpless. William Sharpless, born 1820, married Susan, youngest daughter of Rezin Harvey, Oct., 14, 1841, and lived for a few years near Buckhannon, W. Va., but soon returned and settled on a farm on the Maryland side of the river directly opposite and in plain view of the farm on which he was born and raised. The farm is now occupied by Joseph Sharpless. The furniture in many of the homes in the neighborhood, such as chairs, tables, cupboards, beds, spinning wheels and looms were the work of his hands. He also made the coffins in which the people of the community buried their dead, and without doubt made more coffins than any other man in Garrett County. He was Justice of Peace in District No. 1 for many years and was one of the first petit jurors drawn in Garrett County. Late in life he moved to "Castle Hill" at the top of Backbone Mountain, where he and his wife died. His wife died in March 1898, aged 76 years, and he died in Jan., 1900, aged 79 years.
