Description	:	Mrs. Susan Kay (Bergan) VanEvery, 47, formerly of Clear Lake, died Thursday (May 23, 1996) at her home in Clearwater, Fla. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess and Rev. Jim Norem officiating. Internment will be at a later date at the Pilot Knob Cemetery, Forest City. Family will be at the church one hour prior to the memorial service to greet friends. Susan was born Feb. 19, 1949, in Mason City, the daughter of Roger and Naoma (Jensen) Bergan. She grew up in Clear Lake where she attended school and graduated in 1967. She furthered her education through courses at North Iowa Area Community College. She was united in marriage to Randy Nielsen on Nov. 29, 1969. For several years she lived in Clinton where she met and married Dave VanEvery. The two were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton on July 27, 1985. In 1986, they moved to Clearwater, Fla., where Susan worked for Nielsen Media Research and studied at Eckerd College, working toward a social science degree. Sue thoroughly enjoyed her family and the Hospice families that she worked closely with as a volunteer, walks along the beach and being involved with activities at the church she attended, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clearwater, Fla. Sue is survived by her mother, Naoma Gesme, and her husband, Henry "Sam", of Clear Lake; husband, Dave VanEvery, of Clearwater, Fla.; two sons, Shane and Christopher Nielsen, of Clinton; three stepsons, Steve VanEvery and his wife, Bridget, of Des Moines; Mick VanEvery and his wife, Pam, and Terry VanEvery, all of Wisconsin; six brothers and sisters, Cheryl Murphy and her husband, Steve, of Clinton; Mike Bergan and his wife, Sonni, of Clear Lake; Julie Pueggel and her husband, Tom, of Garner; Sandy Barnes and her husband, Dave, of Waterloo; Steve Bergan and his wife, Janet, of Evansdale, and Kim Mahaffey and her husband, Mark, of Clear Lake; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Bergan; her stepfather, Joe Halsne; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
