Description	:	OBIT: Susan M. Huss, 86, died Sunday at a local nursing home. She was born August 14, 1890 in the old stage house in the Colockum Area. At the age of one year, she moved with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Cooke to Palouse County. In 1895 the family moved in two wagons to Coburg, Ore. and two years later with the same two wagons, they returned to the Colockum area, moving to the Kittitas Valley in 1898. She and Frank Huss were married in 1909. They farmed in the Fairview District until 1938... Read More	OBIT: Susan M. Huss, 86, died Sunday at a local nursing home. She was born August 14, 1890 in the old stage house in the Colockum Area. At the age of one year, she moved with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Cooke to Palouse County. In 1895 the family moved in two wagons to Coburg, Ore. and two years later with the same two wagons, they returned to the Colockum area, moving to the Kittitas Valley in 1898. She and Frank Huss were married in 1909. They farmed in the Fairview District until 1938 when they moved to Ellensburg and bought a home on East Eighth. He preceded her in death in 1952. Mrs. Huss was a co-founder, with Mrs. Albert Barnhart, of the Country Mothers' Club, in 1923. (It is one of the older clubs of the valley.) She was a charter member of the Kittitas County Pioneer Association, a 7-degree member of the National Grange, and also was a member of the Nanum Grange and the Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include one son, LeVerne Huss of Salt Lake City, Utah, and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Gillis of Kittitas. (Three sisters-in-law also survive, Mrs. Ed Cooke and Mrs. Norman Cooke, both of Kittitas and Mrs. Budd Cooke of Ellensburg.) Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the IOOF Cemetery. Friends wishing to attend may go direct to the cemetery. Pastor Mickey Meyer, Seventh Day Adventist, will officiate. Ellensburg Daily Record, March 23, 1977
