Thompson Passes Susan Watson, second daughter of James and Barbara Muncie, was born in Carluke, Scotland, on May 12, 1887. She was educated in the Carluke public school and grew to womanhood in that city. On November 18th, 1910, she was united in marriage to George Thompson. Two children were born to them, a boy who died at birth and a daughter, Barbara, who passed away in 1927, at the age of eleven. In June, 1913, they came to the United States and settled on a farm in Highland township, Clayton county, where they resided till 1931, when they moved here. Mrs. Thompson, after a long illness died Saturday morning, Nov. 16, 1935 at 11 o'clock. Those who survive her and mourn her passing are her husband, George Thompson; five brothers, William in Carluke, James and John in Elgin, Iowa; Alex in Houston, Texas; Archie in Brooklyn, New Jersey; and five sisters, Mrs. Alex Scott of Wishaw, Scotland; Mrs. George Gibbs, Mrs. John Gilchrist, Miss Barbar and Miss Jean, all of Carluke, Scotland. She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert of Wadena. Funeral services were conducted at the house by the Rev. Caldwell, her pastor from Wadena, and the Rev. Wm. Robertson of Wayzata, Minnesota, lifelong friend of the family. The choir from the Wadena Presbyterian church sang two hymns "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "Tell Me the Story of Jesus". Interment was made in Wadena cemetery. Pall bearers were Fred Domke, John P. Duff, Oaklin Probert, Wm. Dempster, W.T. Adams, and Noble Seedorf. Out of town people in attendance were Rev. Wm. Robertson of Wayzata, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. P. Jenkins, Mrs. C. West and Mrs. James Edgar of Waterloo. Oft the eyes were sad and weary, Oft the body wracked with pain. But the smile was bright and cheery So hope rose high again. Now the spirit lingers near us For He has given to His beloved sleep. Card of Thanks We wish to extend our heartfelt aprreciation and thanks to the friends and neighbors for their sympathy and kindness to our dearly beloved wife and sister during her long illness. We also wish to thank the neighbors and friends for their sympathy in our bereavement and for all the assistance in laying our loved one to rest.
